Have you tried this green treasure called matcha? I personally fell in love with it! I get a matcha latte when I have a hard day at work or when I want a little change from drinking coffee. In summer, it also tastes great with ice. And do you know that you can make a great dessert from matcha powder? So it will add not only energy but also beautiful color and light up your day!

Ingredients:

  • 1 spoon of pure matcha powder

  • Bamboo matcha tea whisk

  • or classic whisk

  • 200 ml of plant-based milk

Optional garnish:

  • Ice

  • Strawberry

  • Kiwi

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Portion: for 1 person
Designation: Vegan, vegetarian

Matcha is a traditional and popular drink in East Asia. It comes from the same plant as green tea (Camellia Sinensis), but is grown in a different way and has higher chlorophyll content, which gives it a dark green color. The powder is from ground leaves, so it has a much higher content of active ingredients than classic green tea.

Nutritional point

Did you know that matcha contains an antioxidant called catechin, which, among other things, lowers blood pressure? Matcha is also rich in L-threanine and caffeine. This combination significantly increases concentration, performance and gives you energy. Try this matcha latte, it's so easy to prepare and you're sure to enjoy it! Cheers!

Directions

Just a small teaspoon of matcha powder is enough to prepare one drink. Mix it well with a bamboo matcha whiske, it's much easier and faster, but before I bought it, I used a classic beater and it also worked. At the beginning, I mixed the powder with only 1 third of the milk and then diluted it. If you like foam, whip the remaining third into the foam. A matcha latte is great even in summer. I then garnish it with a slice of strawberry or kiwi.

Since matcha is really high in caffeine, I recommend starting gradually. I like it on demanding days or when I get up early. Like coffee, a matcha drink should be taken with caution during pregnancy.
